Heater and air conditioning control assembly — removal and installation
Warning: These models have airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Engine electrical systems).
Front control unit
2. Remove the instrument panel center trim panel to access the heater/air conditioning control mounting bolts (see Body).
3. Remove the mounting bolts from the heater and air conditioning control assembly (see illustration).

4. Pull the unit from the dash. It can be pulled out just far enough to allow disconnection of the electrical connectors (see illustration). Use a small screwdriver to release the clips.
11.4 Disconnect the electrical connectors to the radio/heater, air conditioning controller
5. Using a small screwdriver, unclip the heater and air conditioning controller from the radio controller or instrument panel center trim (see illustration).
11.5 Disengage the controller retaining clips and separate the controller from the instrument panel
6. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Rear auxiliary control unit
7. Remove the screws from the rear of the center console (see Body), then pull the rear panel back from the console. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the control mounting screws.
8. Pry out the two side trim panels from the rear roof console, then remove the screws from the rear roof console and lower the console down. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the control mounting screws.
9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
