Steering column covers — removal and installation

Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system components to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbags, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).

1. If equipped with a tilt-column, remove the tilt lever knob by pulling it straight out from the column (see illustration).

2. Gently pry the upper and lower halves of the steering column apart with a flat bladed trim tool or equivalent (see illustrations).

3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
