Door window glass — removal and installation
Note: Removal and installation of the window glass is essentially the same for front and rear doors, including access doors on extended-cab pick-ups.
1. Remove the door trim panel (see Door trim panels — removal and installation) and the vapor barrier.
Tip: Temporarily reconnect the window switch or the window crank handle on manual windows (without the retaining clip) to move the window up or down.
2. Raise the regulator until the glass track bolts are visible in the door openings. Tape the glass securely to the window frame to support it in the raised position (see illustration).
22.2 Tape the window in the fully up position
3. Remove the bolts that secure the glass to the window tracks (see illustration).
22.3 Window-to-regulator bolts
4. Pry the inner door seals off of the door to make room for the window glass to slide out of the door. Set it aside for later reinstalling.
5. Lower the regulator to the bottom position while the glass is supported in the raised position.
6. Remove the tape and tilt the front of the glass down and then back upward to maneuver it out of the window opening.
Note: When reinstalling the glass be sure to have the glass within the front and back felt tracks.
7. Installation is the reverse of the removal
