Dashboard switches — replacement

Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disarm the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the pos­sibility of accidental deployment of the air­bag, which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system — general information and precautions).

Headlight switch/transfer case control switch

Headlight switch and dome light override knob (standard instrument panel)

1. Remove the left side trim panel with a flat trim removal tool (see illustration).

10.1 Gently pry the trim panel out of the dash

2. Disconnect the electrical connector, then carefully release the locking clips to the head­lamp switch and remove the switch (see illus­tration).

When installing the headlight switch, make sure that it snaps back into place and that the switch is secure in the trim panel.

3. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal.

4. The hazard flasher switch, which is located on top of the steering column, is an integral component of the turn signal/hazard flasher/multi-function switch.
