Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor — replacement

Non-6.0L models

Note: The MAP sensor is located on top of the intake manifold, on the left side behind the throttle body.

1. Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector (see illustration).

9.1 Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector and remove the bolt, then pull the sensor from the manifold (5.3L V8 shown)

2. Remove the MAP sensor mounting bolt and remove the MAP sensor by pulling it straight up out of the intake manifold.

3. Remove the old sealing grommet from the MAP sensor and inspect it. If the grommet is cracked, torn or otherwise deteriorated, replace it.

4. When installing the MAP sensor, use a little clean engine oil on the grommet so that it doesn’t tear when pushing the MAP sensor into its mounting hole.

5. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal.

6.0L models

Note: The MAP sensor is located on top of the intake manifold, near the front.

6. Remove the intake manifold cover.

7. Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector.

8. Remove the MAP sensor retainer, then remove the sensor by pulling it straight up (see illustrations).

9. Remove the old sealing grommet (see illustration 9.8b) from the MAP sensor and inspect it. If the grommet is cracked, torn or otherwise deteriorated, replace it. 10. When installing the retainer, make sure that it snaps into place. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal.
