Front fender removal and installation

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems). Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, support it securely on jack stands and remove the front wheel.

2. Remove the headlight housing (see Chassis electrical system).

3. Remove the radiator grille (see Radiator grille — removal and installation).

4. Remove the upper cross braces that tie the fender to the cowling area and the fender to the core support area (see illustration).

5. Remove the lower plastic fender edge protector (located on the rear part of the fender at the edge between the rear fender well and the door opening) (see illustration).

6. For the left-side fender, remove the auxiliary battery tray (see illustration).

7. For the left-side fender, remove the wind- shield washer reservoir (see Windshield washer fluid reservoir — removal and installation).

8. Remove the lower hood hinge bolts (see illustration).

Note: If you are only changing one fender, just take the hood hinge off of that side and sup­port the edge of the hood with a thick pile of rags and secure the hood from moving out of place. If you are taking both fenders off, re­move the hood entirely.

9. On the left-side fender, remove the bracket securing the under hood fuse box to the fender (see illustrations).

10. Remove the fender liner (see Sec­tion 17).

11. Remove the bolts securing the fender to the frame (see illustrations).

12. Installation is the reverse of removal.
